Also known as Butt Augmentation, the Brazilian Butt Lift is a cosmetic surgery procedure to help lift the buttocks, to give them a more ‘perky’ appearance. It is popular because it creates a more youthful, slender body contour.
It is achieved by injecting fat taken from other areas of the body, into the top half of the buttocks. This brings about a double benefit, as it reduces areas of unwanted fat while augmenting areas that need more fat, bringing about the overall desired body contour.
The Brazilian Butt Lift is conducted using general anesthetic. Patients are then subjected to a process of liposuction, which effectively removes unwanted excess fat from other areas of the body such as the stomach and thighs, back and abdomen. This fat is then treated via a purification process to distill out the live fat cells from the dead cells. The remaining healthy cells are then ready for re-introduction into the body. This means that more fat needs to be removed from the body, than the amount of fat being re-introduced, which in turn, helps improve the proportion of the overall body shape.
Using a series of very many tiny injections, the fat is introduced at different depths of the skin, to promote a fuller, rounder buttock. This is where the expertise of the surgeon is tested, as they can create the desired effect by selecting areas and depth of areas to be treated to produce the preferred shape. The injections are inserted into the top half of the buttocks only, where the desired effect is needed, and where there are no nerves which could be potentially damaged.
How long do the results last?
The beauty of this treatment is that it does produce permanent results so no top-up treatments are necessary at a later date. The placement of the injections is key to the success of the procedure, to ensure permanent results and the best aesthetic appearance. Anyone considering the Brazilian Butt Lift needs to ensure they choose their surgeon carefully to be sure they receive the best possible experience.
Are their any side effects?
As with any cosmetic surgery procedure, there are risks; however, these are minimal. Patients are advised to allow plenty of time for recovery, during which they should try not to sit directly on the buttocks for a period of up to 3 weeks. This is to ensure the desired shape is maintained while the fat deposits are being absorbed into the body. There may be some swelling of the treated area for about 6 weeks. In most cases, normal activities can be resumed after about 4 weeks.
Brazilian Butt Lift Cost
This treatment does not come cheap, starting at $8000 upwards to $18,000. Bear in mind that this price includes hospitalization for several days, and post operative care.
Who can have the Brazilian Butt Lift?
Candidates should be in good health and not be more than 30 pounds overweight. As this procedure can possibly be conducted using local anesthetic, it may be an option for candidates with certain health conditions to be considered for this procedure. Patients with a slight frame may be advised alternative treatments if they have insufficient stores of fat cells to be removed and re-used. It is important to take advice from a reputable clinician, and to check out the expected results to manage expectations.
Butt Implants – An alternative to the Brazilian Butt Lift
Butt implants are a more traditional approach to butt augmentation, using the process of inserting silicone implants to produce the desired effect. It can be a preferred option for those with a petite body frame, who have insufficient body fat to be removed for the Brazilian Butt Lift.
The procedure is usually conducted under general anesthetic, although it can be administered with just a local anesthetic combined with a sedative. A small incision is made in the crease of the buttocks so that this cannot be seen post procedure. The implants are then inserted into the upper half of the buttocks, sometimes above and sometimes beneath the gluteus maximus muscle, leaving the lower half, where there are nerves, well alone. As this procedure involves stretching the skin, and underlying tissue, it can be painful for the first 48 hours following the procedure.
There are other procedures for lifting the buttock area, which are designed for helping patients whose shape has altered, for example due to excessive weight loss:
The Autologous Flap Buttock augmentation technique involves lifting the buttock into the desired position, then suturing it in place.
The Pursestring Glutoplasty method involves placing sutures around the whole circumference of the buttock, which are then tightened to bring about the desired pert shape and appearance.
Some of these procedures are carried out in conjunction with the Brazilian Butt Lift to bring about the best overall results.
